One of the largest events held each year in Union Gap is the Pioneer Power Show & Swap Meet (PPS). The first event was held in 1981 and it's been an annual tradition ever since.
There is truly something for all ages during this two day event, held from 8:00am - 4:00 pm this year on August 15th and 16th at Union Gap's Fullbright Park and Central Washington Ag Museum. The Farm Equipment Displays and Parade are always popular, especially with those who have grown up in the ag industry. They love seeing the vintage trucks and engines on display. Farm Tractor pulls are also popular, as everyone likes to demonstrate how they can do the longest pull - bragging rights are certainly at stake! The kids even get involved with their own version of a tractor pull during the popular 'Lawn Tractor Pulls.' PPS supplies the Lawn Tractors for the kids and you should see the smiles on their faces as they try this fun event.
Other great family events during the day include the Kiddie Train through the Ag Museum's Historic Village, a petting zoo, archery, kid's arts and crafts, face painting and more.
Have you ever wanted to see a working blacksmith shop? Or a wheat threshing and binding demonstration? Well, head on down to the PPS and you'll see both happening during both days of the weekend.
There will also be great food, live music, a quilt display, a silent auction and more to keep you entertained. Plus, the weather looks like it is going to cooperate so you should have two days of sunshine at the beautiful Fullbright Park.
We hope to see you there! Admission is only $5.00 and that includes parking, plus children under the age of 12 are admitted free with a parent or guardian. Come relive a little of the agricultural past and also see the youth of today preparing for the future of ag!
